Mount Pleasant hosts the 37th annual Children’s Day Festival with free admission

Families can look forward to a day of fun and entertainment at the 37th annual Town of Mount Pleasant Children’s Day Festival.

The event will take place on Sunday, October 20th from 12pm to 5pm at the Park West Recreation Complex. Entry and all activities are free. Free parking is available at nearby schools on Thomas Cario Blvd. Free shuttles will operate throughout the event.

“Children’s Day provides the perfect opportunity for families to get outside and celebrate the arrival of our beautiful fall weather,” said Nicole Harvey, community affairs and marketing director for the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department.

The festival features live entertainment, giant bounce houses, games, rides, face painting, pony rides, prizes and a petting zoo. Special performances are offered by local dance and gymnastics academies, karate schools and cheerleading groups. Other entertainment highlights include musical performances with unicyclist and juggler Mark Lippard and King of Kazoo Rick Hubbard.

Returning partners include Mount Pleasant Waterworks with its annual obstacle course, Mount Pleasant Fire Department trucks and public service heavy equipment, Mount Pleasant Police Community Outreach and the PLAN Take Root tent, where festival goers can receive a free tree.

“We could never hold an event like this without the support of our sponsors, whose participation is vital to delivering this free family event,” Harvey said. “Of course, we are also grateful to the many children, parents, volunteers and vendors whose contributions make this such a popular fall event for our community.”

Animals, bicycles and skateboards are not permitted. Food and concessions are sold by local food trucks and vendors.
