The Houston Police Department released body-worn camera video Tuesday of an officer-involved shooting where officers responded to a home invasion call in progress. One officer was shot in the leg but was able to return fire, police said.

On Tuesday morning, around 9:50 a.m., two officers responded to the call and could see a woman from the front door with her hands tied behind her back.

Officers entered the home and discovered a male suspect in the kitchen. An officer wanted to take him into custody. While the other officer went to the woman’s aid, another man appeared from a back room and shot him.

Officer S. Durfee, who has been with the department since January 2016, was shot in the leg and returned fire but did not hit the shooter.

In the video, Dufree can be heard telling the other officer that he was shot in the right leg and asking for a tourniquet, which the officer provided. Later in the video, the officer returned to assist Dufree in applying the tourniquet.

The wounded officer was taken to an area hospital where he was treated and released.

After the exchange of fire, the suspected shooter fled the house on foot. Police said a third suspect waited in a car outside the home but also fled.

The suspect, who fled on foot, was arrested about a block from the apartment, and Houston police later located the suspect, who fled in a vehicle, and took him into custody without incident, police said.

Raymond Perez, 35, the suspected shooter, is charged in the 230th State District Court with aggravated assault on a public servant, aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and unlawful carrying of a weapon. Two other suspects, Michael Perez, 38, and Brian A. Garcia Chavez, 18, are charged in the same court with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

The incident is being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit, Internal Affairs Division and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
