Joe Locke talks young Avengers, the character he thinks Billy would do well with, and choosing between future Marvel movies or TV shows

Marvel Studios has been guilty of foreshadowing future events in the past its mid-credits sequencessome of which lead to amazing storylines… and some of which amount to nothing at all. But given the amount of time and attention Marvel Studios has put into developing and launching the Young Avengers, I have to assume that a film or Disney+ series centered around this ensemble is on the horizon. A case in point is the ending of the last team-up movie The miracles literally has Kamala Khan from Iman Vellani Recruiting Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) Nick Fury style for a mission. Add to that the recent introductions of Hulk’s son Skaar as well as America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) and Eli Bradley (Elijah Richardson), and you have the makings of a team.

Now this Agatha all the time has reached the sixth episode, we know that for sure Joe Locke plays Billy MaximoffWanda’s son and the mighty hero Wicca. He was also a member of the Young Avengers in the comics, so I recently asked Locke the question in a follow-up conversation Agatha Episode 6. To warm him up a bit, assuming Young Avengers happens in some form, I asked him which other MCU character he’s most looking forward to interacting with. Locke had his choice of Kate Bishop/Hawkeye, Eli Bradley/Patriot, America Chavez or more. With those cards on the table, Locke told CinemaBlend:

Well, I hope it happens. I’m hoping to get used to more Marvel things, but I don’t know anything about them. I think Ms. Marvel is a really cool character and that she and Billy would get along well.

Given that Ms. Marvel is being portrayed as the Nick Fury of the Young Avengers, so to speak, it’s safe to say that if Billy Maximoff joins this team of junior heroes, he’ll have plenty of interaction with Kamala Khan. Given that Joe Locke is getting his introduction to the MCU through a multi-part series, I then asked him if he would prefer that upcoming Marvel project dedicated to the Young Avengers as a film or show. And Locke told me quite openly and directly:

I mean, honestly I wouldn’t care if I had the chance to do something like that. A chance to play Billy again? I actually don’t mind what shape it’s in. Yes. I had the best experience shooting it and I love playing the character so I would take it in any form.

At the moment we have two avenger Projects are on the agenda, and they are earth-shattering concepts. Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU, not to play Tony Stark, but to introduce Victor Von Doom. This will lead to what we assume will be a massive team-up film Avengers: Secret Wars. Will the Young Avengers take part in these exercises? Will they be submitted until these films hit theaters? Locke didn’t know. But I can assure you that Marvel Studios isn’t spending its precious screen time introducing Wiccan, Kate Bishop, Ms. Marvel, Hulking, Patriot, and more, or bringing them together in a similar film next summer Lightning.

Let’s see if Billy Maximoff’s twin brother Tommy joins them by then Agatha all the time is ending its run on the Disney+ streaming service. And we’ll see if there are any further developments on a possible Young Avengers project as Kevin Feige continues to reveal the MCU’s secret plans.
