Free family fun at Super Science Saturday

Explore earth science through hands-on activities and demonstrations

Be part of “The Science Quest” at this year’s Super Science Saturday. The annual Science Celebration will take place on November 2nd from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Mesa Lab at the US National Science Foundation National Center for Atmospheric Research (NSF NCAR) in Boulder. Whether you’re from the Shire, Mordor, or another adventuring group, everyone is welcome!

Featured activities include a weather balloon launch, face painting, hands-on earth science demonstrations by NSF NCAR wizards and more. To celebrate the 50thTh There will also be live dropsonde drops and data collection analysis to mark the anniversary of the Dropsonde, a weather device dropped from aircraft that collects data about the atmosphere.

“This year’s theme is ‘The Science Quest,’ with an emphasis on adventure and exploration,” said Katie Wolfson of the UCAR Center for Science Education. “We look forward to Super Science Saturday every year and look forward to exploring earth science with the community.” UCAR is the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research, which provides educational and research services and manages NCAR under the auspices of the National Science Foundation .

Should parking spaces reach capacity at this popular event, cars will be admitted on a “one car in, one car out” basis. The planning team encourages visitors to carpool, bike or walk to the event. Please plan accordingly.
