Iowa investigators are updating the Perry High School shooting case

PERRY, Iowa (KCRG) – The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation will update its investigation into the shooting at Perry High School during a press conference Friday morning.

You can watch the press conference live in the player above or below. The start is scheduled for Friday at 10:00 a.m.

17-year-old Dylan Butler opened fire at the high school on Jan. 4, killing 11-year-old Ahmir Joliff and wounding six others before taking his own life. Principal Dan Marburger was one of the wounded and died of these wounds ten days later.

On Thursday, the Dallas District Attorney announced that he would not file further criminal charges in connection with the shooting. The investigation determined that Butler acted alone in the shooting.

In September, the Dallas district attorney initially refused to provide details about the investigation into the shooting. That sparked criticism from open records advocates and others who questioned how the 17-year-old kept the gun at bay and whether anyone else could have acted sooner to prevent the shooting.
