Legendary comedian Peter Kay makes his comeback to the big screen this Christmas in a film airing on both the BBC and Netflix.

Arguably Manchester’s most famous comedian, Kay, 51, made a name for himself in the world of stand-up before turning to acting, appearing in British classics such as Phoenix nights And Max and Paddy’s Road to Nowhere.

However, after canceling a tour in 2017, Kay took an abrupt break, citing “unforeseen family circumstances” as the reason.

After several sporadic appearances over the years, the actor and comedian returned to the spotlight in November 2022, announcing a three-year stand-up tour.

Kay has also been busy reacquainting himself with the world of acting as he has now been confirmed to be teaming up with another iconic British television duo for their new Christmas film.

Yes, that’s right, Kay is returning to the world of claymation for the upcoming film Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.

The comedian will reprise the role of Chief Inspector Macintosh in the film, appearing alongside Ben Whitehead, known as the voice behind Wallace, while Reece Shearsmith and Lauren Patel will voice the new characters. Diane Morgan, Adjoa Andoh and Lenny Henry will also appear in cameo roles.

Revenge on the most fowl It’s not just a comeback for Kay either, as the stop-motion film was the first Wallace and Gromit Feature length production since then The Curse of the Wererabbit 19 years ago.

A synopsis of the film confirms that Wallace and Gromit must once again battle “dark forces” after an “intelligent gnome” created by Wallace develops an evil spirit of his own.

Not everything is as it seems either, as a “vengeful figure from the past” seems to be secretly running things.

Peter Kay previously played the role in 2005's Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (DreamWorks/Aardman Animations).

“It’s up to Gromit to fight dark forces and save his master,” the synopsis reads. “Or Wallace can never invent anything again!”

As for the identity of the mysterious villain, it is none other than the well-known nemesis Feathers McGraw.

The film will be available to watch on BBC One and iPlayer this Christmas Day before premiering internationally on Netflix in early 2025.

Kay is now in the middle of his big comeback comedy tour, which is scheduled to run until July 2025.
