UFC 5 – New Fighters, Alter Egos and Gameplay Patch

Patch 1.15 goes live tomorrow with two new fighters, a new punch card with several alter ego rewards including the Daniel Cormier UFC 226 alter ego, also known as Champ Champ (Community Vote Series), and gameplay fixes that address the dampening effect of Fix punches landing from an inaccurate punching range, the speed of leg kicks when used in a combo that starts with punches, and an issue that resulted in all fighters having access to the low single leg takedown instead of just fighters with a high enough one Level in Wrestling Takedowns.

Now let’s take a look at the two new fighters coming to UFC 5 tomorrow:

Shara Magomedov – If becoming a UFC champion depends on how intimidating you look, Shara would already be holding the UFC Middleweight Championship belt. With three straight wins since joining the UFC, Shara looks to be a real contender in the Shark Tank, the UFC’s middleweight division. Fast and powerful kicks combined with agile footwork are what you should look for when choosing Shara in UFC 5.

Matt Frevola – The STEAMROLLAAA finally makes his way into UFC 5. Matt is best known for his punching power, which helped him to three straight knockout victories at one point in his UFC career, but he can also wrestle and counterattack, when it matters. And coming from the same gym as Merab and Aljo can only improve your submission defense. Do you want a tough, determined fighter with decisive power who can crush any opponent? “The SteamRolla” is your man for the job in UFC 5.

Here are the details you need to know about tonight’s Alter Egos live in UFC 5:

Daniel Cormier (UFC 226|2018) – It took all of four minutes and thirty-three seconds for Daniel Cormier to become the second man ever to win two UFC championship titles simultaneously, but it took hours on the wrestling mats and eleven UFC fights across two divisions to get to that point. Nothing could stop DC from becoming the Baddest Man Alive and Champ Champ on the same night at UFC 226.

Thank you to the EA SPORTS UFC 5 community for participating in the in-game Community Vote event and voting to add Daniel Cormier’s UFC 226 alter ego to the game. The rest of the Community Vote Alter Ego series will be added on October 22, 2024.

Leon Edwards (UFC 278|2022) – In the UFC 278 main event, Leon Edwards was bullied for four and a half rounds. The rising of Salt Lake City, Utah, had taken a toll on the residents of Birmingham, England, fighting in enemy territory. At least that’s what everyone thought, but that’s not what Leon is made of, as with less than a minute left in the fight, Edwards unleashed a headbutt that sent Usman crashing to the canvas. “Head shot, dead.” This gave Great Britain its first UFC welterweight world champion.

Justin Gaethje (UFC 291|2023) -What’s with Salt Lake City and headbutting? Almost a year after Leon claimed victory with a head kick in the final minute of the fifth round at UFC 278, Justin Gaethje decided at UFC 291 that he didn’t want to wait that long and delivered a head kick to Dustin, knocking him out within the first minute of the second round and became only the second BMF champion.
