Canadian pro Taylor Pendrith flirted with a rare 59 at TPC Summerlin on Thursday. By the time the opening round was over, he had settled for a still excellent 10-under 61.

That was good enough to give Pendrith a comfortable lead heading into Friday’s second round in Las Vegas, although many proven winners had great opening rounds of their own, such as Rickie Fowler and Gary Woodland.
