Ghost Game – film review | Prank meets spooky

Regard Ghost game in select cinemas or on VOD

Ghost game is the second feature film by director Jill Gevargizian. Her feature film debut was the 2020 film The stylist which was based on her own short film from 2016. Jill Gevargizian also co-wrote this film, but she didn’t write this one.

The script comes from Adam Cesare, who already wrote the horror comedy Last night at Terrace Lanes (2024), which I haven’t seen yet. Of course, the IMDb rating (not that you should ever blindly trust it) is a rather low 4.3, which is not a good indicator.

Ghost game premiered at Panic Fest 2024 and Jill Gevargizian won the Audience Award for Best Director. I can’t say I completely understand, other than I’m happy for her. And I also admit that the story was my big problem with the film.

In any case, DREAD, Epic Pictures’ specialty horror label, is releasing the film and it feels like this is the right home for it. Especially because they are also ensuring that it will be released in a limited theatrical release from October 18, 2024. Plus will be available on Blu-ray from December 10, 2024.

Ghost game will be available on VOD from October 22, 2024.
