The former Arkansas Razorbacks coach talks about his time with the Hogs

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Former Arkansas Razorbacks coach Eric Musselman sat down with Northwest Arkansas radio host Josh Bertaccini for an interview Thursday afternoon. He was proud to see his former colleague Sam Pittman and his Razorbacks team defeat a top-five team last week.

“I watch as many Razorback games as I can,” Musselman said during his post. “What a win for the football team last week! I always love the Hogs when I see them play. It’s been an incredible place to live and train and I feel like they’re in a great position for the future.”

Musselman always seemed to be on campus supporting his fellow coaches regardless of the sport. Regardless of whether he attended such games for the benefit of his basketball program, Musselman was a good ambassador for the university.

His social media presence extends far beyond borders and he is considered one of the online college coaches of his generation. When he vacations in certain cities across the country, the Razorbacks brand has been seen on professional leagues, coaches and players.

The time he spent in the NBA, D-League and other places throughout his career allowed him to develop relationships with celebrities who came to Fayetteville to see Musselman. He made Arkansas basketball nationally relevant again and the program would not have been able to lure Hall of Fame coach John Calipari out of his lifetime contract at Kentucky without him.

Musselman also shared that his plan was to stay at Arkansas full time after a disappointing 16-17 season. However, a job opened up near his home that he considered a “good fit.”

The Razorbacks delivered some of the best moments in program history with Musselman at the helm. Two seasons ago, Arkansas defeated No. 1 Auburn at home during the regular season and a win over No. 1 overall seed Gonzaga during the NCAA Tournament led to a second straight Elite Eight.
