The Season 4 premiere of Ghosts reveals what happened to Isaac

SPOILER ALERT: This post contains details about CBS’ fourth season premiere. Ghosts.

Good news, Ghosts fans. Isaac Higgintoot is alive! Or, well, you know what we mean.

Season 3 ended on a major cliffhanger after the Puritan spirit Patience (now played by Mary Holland) reported to the Woodstone grounds and asked the cellar spirits for help in luring Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones) downstairs. The cellar spirits innocently thought that Patience just wanted to clear the air after Isaac left her in that hole all those years ago, but the youngest addition to Woodstone had other plans.

As Isaac went into the basement, Patience grabbed him from behind and pulled him against the wall. Both have disappeared – and here it continues in the premiere of the fourth season.

The morning after Isaac’s wedding, everyone realizes that it’s been a while since they’ve seen him. It turns out he apologizes profusely to Patience at her hideout, which is somewhere on the Woodstone grounds, but Patience doesn’t try to hear it. She tells Isaac that she plans to “push him into the dirt” for a long time so that he will know what kind of suffering she has endured.

However, it’s not that Patience is entirely bad. Isaac is able to disarm her a little with his charm, and when he says he misses his friends, Patience also kidnaps Sasappis (Román Zaragoza) to keep him company. It’s the thought that counts, right?

The rest of her crew put their heads together to find out where Patience’s hideout is so they can rescue Isaac and Sasappis, but the Puritan spirit beats them to it. She takes Patience and Sasappis back to the basement and explains that she changed her mind after catching them making fun of her. She realizes that she doesn’t want to force anyone to like her and retreats to her hiding spot (FYI, it was under the well).

The ghosts are quite uncomfortable with Patience being all alone again, so they invite her to join them in the main house. What could go wrong?

The episode also gives a glimpse into Patience’s backstory. Apparently she was banished from her Puritan colony to quite a buzzkill. Imagine that.
