Boston College Football suffers its second straight loss, falling to Virginia Tech

The Boston College Eagles (4-3, 1-2 ACC) football team lost to the Virginia Tech Hokies (4-3, 2-1 ACC) 42-21 on Thursday night at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Virginia.

The styling duo of Hokies quarterback Kyron Drones and running back Bhayshul Tuten led Virginia Tech’s offensive success.

Drones scored the game’s first two touchdowns on the ground with an 11-yard and a 1-yard run. Tuten followed with two touchdowns on an 83-yard run and a 20-yard reception pass from Drones.

However, the Eagles didn’t go down without a fight.

Boston College recorded 21 unanswered points, largely due to the Hokies’ turnovers. After stopping Virginia Tech early in the second half, the Eagles got the game going with an 11-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Thomas Castellanos to tight end Jeremiah Franklin.

Boston College then scored on a 20-yard touchdown reception by running back Treshaun Ward and a 5-yard touchdown run by running back Kye Robichaux. The Hokies turned the ball over on an interception and fumbled on consecutive drives.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, Tuten’s strength and skill were too great to handle. The senior scored two more touchdowns in the fourth with a six-yard run and a 61-yard run to seal the game for the Hokies.

In total, Tuten scored 18 carries for 266 yards and three touchdowns. The outing broke a program record for most rushing yards in a single game.

Boston College returns to Alumni Stadium on Friday, October 25th for a homecoming game against the Louisville Cardinals.
