West Virginia Top 25 High School Football Rankings (10/17/24)

It’s that time of year, everyone. High school football games began across the state of West Virginia from October 10th to 12th and there was plenty of great action.

The No. 1 team in the Mountain State continues to be powerhouse Martinsburg, followed by Spring Mills, followed by Bridgeport and Fairmont Senior.

Here is the complete breakdown of West Virginia’s elite high school football teams as we see them heading into Week 8 of the 2024 season.

Martinsburg football

It’s hard to argue with that. The Bulldogs have eliminated three of the seven opponents they have faced this season and have scored just 49 points so far. When it comes to Martinsburg at No. 1, there are no big arguments here.

The other team from the city of Martinsburg is playing pretty well, as Spring Mills is coming off a 43-0 win over Washington last week. Spring Mills is easily considered the second largest club in the state.

The first AAA team in our rankings this week is Bridgeport, with the Indians coming off a 56-21 win over Parkrsburg South last week.

Polar Bears quarterback Brody Whitehair has been very efficient this season, completing 92 of 128 passes for 1,838 yards and 21 touchdowns.

The only loss this season came at the hands of No. 1 Martinsburg. Otherwise, Huntington is pure dominance this fall.

Chance Barker looked great under center for Princeton, completing 69 of 94 passes for 1,364 yards, 19 touchdowns and just two interceptions.

The Redskins looked a lot more like themselves as they defeated Capital 63-28.

Eli Bartley was strong from the start, rushing for 655 yards and 11 touchdowns in six games.

The Timberwolves lost their third game of the season when they lost 40-21 to Huntington last week.

Wheeling Park remains in the top 10 after a 34-14 loss to Fairmont Senior last week. They will look to bounce back this week against Butler.

We look at the losses Jefferson has suffered this season and don’t want to let these guys fall too far down the list. The most recent decision is a 42-12 decision for Martinsburg. The Cougars have won two straight games against Hedgesville and South Hagerstown.

The Patriots were riding on running back Saiyvon Brown, who ran for 939 yards and eight touchdowns this fall.

Hoover continued his undefeated streak by defeating Wayne 49-0 last week.

Connor Lambert was a scoring machine for the White Falcons, scoring 25 touchdowns in three games and running for 1,239 yards on 68 carries.

The Yellow Jackets have excelled on offense, averaging well over 45 points per game this season.

We really like the Wildcats’ offense and the play of their quarterback Josh Moody, who threw for 2,046 yards, 22 touchdowns and five interceptions.

The Huskies bounced back from their only loss of the season with consecutive wins against Elkins and Lincoln, respectively.

Through the first six games, the Falcons averaged an incredible 45.1 points per game. Impressive numbers for this talented group so far this season.

The Flying Eagles made their ranking debut a few weeks after posting a 43-7 victory. Woodrow Wilson is coming off a 49-12 win over Princeton and will face Princeton this week.

As one of the top teams in Class AA, Roane County continues to climb after a 45-19 win over Poca.

The Red Devils make their debut on this list after beating Independence 21-20 a few weeks ago.

The Patriots only suffered two losses this season to teams on this list: Princeton and Oak Hill.

The Mountain Lions have relied on the outstanding play of running back Jared Reall, who ran for 1,150 yards and scored 21 touchdowns.

Bulldogs quarterback Brysen Dixon has been sensational this season, throwing for 1,070 yards, 16 touchdowns and just a single interception.

It was too difficult for us to leave the Mohigans off this list entirely after back-to-back losses to Wheeling Park and Martinsburg, two of the best teams in the state.
