There will be patchy frost tonight. The warming trend begins Friday and will continue into next week

It will be another cold night in central Alabama, with clear skies and calm winds. You can see comet 2023 A3 Tsuchinshan ATLAS high in the sky until around 8 p.m. We won’t be as cold as this morning with lows between 30 and 40 degrees. North and northeast Alabama could still see patchy frost.

A freeze warning is in effect for portions of central Alabama from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. Cover or bring any plants you want to keep indoors to provide a warm place for your pets.

On Friday, high pressure will move northeast of Alabama, shifting winds from north to east. We will begin a warming trend with highs in the lower 70s and plenty of sunshine.

Friday night’s high school football games will be clear and cool, with kickoff temperatures in the 60s and 50s.

Weekend outlook: Fantastic weather will continue this weekend as an area of high pressure remains northeast of Alabama. It will be sunny and warmer, with highs in the mid to upper 70s each day. Lows will not be as cold, falling into the upper 40s to lower 50s.

Outlook next week: The dry weather pattern will continue next week as high pressure will prevail over the eastern U.S. Monday through Thursday and there will be sunshine and warmer high temperatures in the upper 70s to mid 80s. A weak cold front could move through Friday, but I don’t expect any rain with highs in the 80s.
