Kearney police and U.S. Marshals arrest a teenager in Montana for a nighttime burglary

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – A Kearney teenager was arrested in Montana in connection with two burglaries in early October.

Chance Ashmore, 19, is accused of breaking into Bread & Butter Tattoo and Herbal Wonder in Kearney on Oct. 2. Authorities later obtained a search warrant for Ashmore on suspicion of burglary in two counties.

During the investigation, police learned that Ashmore had recently traveled to Montana. Kearney police, in coordination with the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested him at a bus stop in Billings Thursday morning.

According to KPD, authorities executed a search warrant on Oct. 10 and recovered several stolen items.

Tim Wilson, 40, and Kirsty Cassidy, 33, both of Kearney, were charged on suspicion of possession of stolen property in connection with the two burglaries.

“The teamwork in solving this case was exceptional and the police work by officers and detectives was professional and diligent,” said Kearney City Police Chief Bryan Waugh.

Kearney police said they would like to thank the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service for their assistance in the investigation and arrest.
