Friday marks the eighth week of the high school football season. On KIWA AM 1550/FM 100.7, Sheldon is in Cherokee. Boyden Hull Rock Valley makes the short trip to MOC Floyd Valley.

Cherokee is 5-2 on the year and 2-2 in the district. The Braves are coming off a win at Unity Christian. Sheldon is 2-5 this year and 0-4 in district after suffering a home loss to West Lyon, the state’s second-ranked team.

The first thing that catches Cherokee head coach Tony Gunther’s eye about Sheldon is the Orabs’ size advantage.

Gunther expects the game to come down to the Braves’ ability to run the football.

The Nighthawks are 1-6 on the season and 0-3 in district after a home loss to Bishop Heelan. The Crusaders were ranked No. 9 in 3A, where they remain this week. MOC Floyd Valley is 4-3 on the year and 1-2 in the district.
