Doechii stars in The Barbershop commercial for the pgLang That’s Money campaign

Doechii imparts some financial knowledge to her fans. She was selected by pgLang and Cash App to star in their film The hair salon Advert as part of the joint venture’s That’s Money campaign, which debuted on Thursday (October 17).

The Top Dawg Entertainment rapper was dealing with her business taking a hit when an angry customer expressed his frustration to comedian Exavier TV, who played the role of a hairdresser, that a quick money exchange didn’t work out have.

“At first everyone had a plan for my money, but then I realized I had to do my own thing,” she began in the clip. “Don’t get me wrong, I want to monetize my career, but at the same time I don’t want to take any steps that require too much from me. I just want to put the money aside and not have to worry about it and still know that it will grow.”

Doechii then imparts some knowledge about interest and how “free money” works for you without even having to worry about it.

“I’m now at a point where I’m starting to create a budget and set financial goals for my future,” the Florida rapper said in a statement. “I think it’s so important to be honest with each other when we talk about money, so I’m excited to be part of this campaign and share what works for me.”

Calmatic directs the clip – he’s creatively collaborated in the past with LeBron James, Kendrick Lamar and McDonald’s, to name a few – which gradually zooms out from the barbershop until it’s just a small block on a white screen is.

“What I liked most about this project was the opportunity to essentially describe to the audience what ‘interest’ is in one of the rawest and most direct ways I’ve ever seen in financial advertising,” said the native Los Angeles native in a statement. “Interest is one of those words that you hear over and over again but don’t know exactly what it is.”

Kendrick Lamar gave Doechii the ultimate co-sign with a post on his Instagram Story on Thursday, deeming her “the toughest.”

Look for another version of That’s Money to be released later in 2024. On the music side, Doechii delivered her critically acclaimed album Alligator bites never heal mixtape in August, which peaked at number 117 on the Billboard 200.
