Elizabeth Olsen just wore practical dress boots to the airport

As all frequent flyers know, there is a hierarchy when it comes to airport attire. Cozy, comfortable knit on top and stiff, tight denim on the bottom. The same applies to the range of shoes. (Some shoes are better at this task than others.) While some celebrities opt for the most impractical airport shoes imaginable—I’m looking at you and your leggings-heels hybrid, Victoria Beckham—others choose an equally stylish but far more appropriate approach to flying style.

Actress Elizabeth Olsen, who falls into the latter category, arrived at JFK Airport yesterday wearing simple but practical pull-on ankle boots.

Since I had to take off my shoes to go through the body scanner almost every time I went through security, this topic is very close to my heart. But in the winter months, you’ll probably need a lot more protection than skinny ballet flats. In all my years of flying, I’ve learned that pull-on ankle boots are the best thing for any fall/winter airport moment. This practical boot trend is easy to put on and take off, with no awkward buckles, zippers, or laces to slow you down, and in my opinion even beats strappy sandals and heeled Mary Janes.

These boots pair perfectly with fluffy cashmere socks and will prevent you from walking barefoot through the airport when you inevitably have to take them off.
