EXCLUSIVE: After I helped bring this Paddington franchise and a new Willy Wonka film, director Paul King has his sights set on another iconic character, sources say. Deadline King has signed on to direct a new film Prince Charming Movie at Disney. Simon Barnaby and Jon Croker co-write with King.

As for this project, insiders add that the film will not be specifically linked Cinderella.

The film seems to fall right into King’s wheelhouse after successfully launching another family-friendly franchise Paddington. The film, which follows the young Peruvian bear and his travels through London, has led to a King-produced sequel and an upcoming third film: Paddington in Peru, that King serves as executive producer.

King most recently directed the successful film Willy Wonka. Wonka, in which Timothee Chalamet plays the lead role. The film was another major success for the director, grossing $634 million worldwide.

Barnaby is a constant collaborator of King’s who wrote this Paddington Pictures and Wonka.

Both are represented by Independent Talent Group, King also by WME and Barnaby by UTA.
