Dovianne Boyd

July 11, 1945 – October 12, 2024

Funeral services for Dovianne Boyd, 79, of Lufkin will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the Lufkin First Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Michael Rawls and Pastor Mallori Rawls officiating. Burial will follow in Whitehouse Cemetery.

Ms. Boyd was born on July 11, 1945 in Center, Texas, to the late Joyce (Jenkins) and Melroy Alton Wagstaff and died on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at a hospital in Tyler, Texas.

Ms. Boyd had many interests. She loved to decorate and had a true gift for making any room look spectacular. She also loved traveling, dining out with friends, and enjoyed frequent trips to Ross. She loved her church. And she loved ironing.

Dovianne grew up in the parsonage and knew, primarily through her parents’ example, what it meant to serve and sacrifice in the local church. She has been involved in the Church of the Nazarene in many ways over the years. She always had a smiling face and greeted visitors, making sure to send handwritten cards. She also considered it her job to decorate the church and make sure it looked its best. She was also musically talented; she sang and played the piano. Over the years, she even volunteered to work with children, repair clothing for various members of the church, and simply pitch in where needed and work hard to make sure the job got done. She loved her church and was determined to see it flourish.

She was full of wisdom and made it her mission to share that wisdom with other women of younger generations by taking the time to sit with people, listen to them and advise them. Dovianne was always in a good mood and made it her mission to bring you together too. She was funny, always spoke her mind and carried herself with such poise and grace.

In recent years, she has been involved in Friday night date nights where 10 or 12 friends would get together, eat, discuss current events, and share joys and heartaches. Saturday was a day for searching for treasures at flea markets and estate sales.

Dovianne loved traveling, especially cruises with friends and family. She was very loved and we will miss her very much. However, her friends and family stand with calm assurance, knowing that she is in the presence of her King Jesus and in the arms of her beloved David.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bryan Keith and Beverly Ann McElrath of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Reneé and Mike Branson of Huntington; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Her husband, James David Boyd, predeceased her; her parents, Joyce Bridges and Melroy Wagstaff; and her daughters Kari Lynn Standley and Jami Nicole Bauer.

Pallbearers will include Jimmy Proffitt, Jimmy Rogers, Robert McGrath, Dale Wilson, Doug Standley, Micah Moseley and Roy Lee McElrath.

Guests of honor are Kendall Mosely and Arnold Porter.

The family will receive friends and family on Friday, October 25, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
