5½ years in prison for a man whose crime led to 10 vehicles being trapped in Edina and Minnetonka

A Minnetonka woman said her Mercedes sedan was stolen on August 16 and later found at a hotel in Greenfield, Wisconsin. Police said it was the same sedan Lewis and other suspects used in a carjacking in Minnetonka on Wingwood Court on Aug. 17.

In that incident, a woman was carrying groceries when the suspects attempted to steal her husband’s car in the garage. When she confronted them, Lewis and Holmes attacked her, and Lewis pushed her 13-year-old son to the ground and fought to take his phone away.

Police said a suspect sped away in the victim’s car while Holmes jumped into the driver’s seat of the Mercedes and drove away.

About 50 minutes before the carjacking, Lewis stole a purse from an Edina woman’s vehicle that was parked in her garage on Wooddale Avenue.

Lewis continued his crime spree by stealing two vehicles from a Minnetonka home on Pine Island Road on Aug. 18.

On August 26, an Edina man reported that his Audi sedan was stolen from his garage on Kelsey Terrace. On August 30, another Edina man had his Ford Expedition stolen from Mirror Lakes Drive.
