XC teams will compete at the packed Texas A&M meet on Friday

UNIVERSITY STATION – McNeese Cross Country will have its final meet before the Southland Conference Championships on Friday when both the Cowboys and Cowgirls compete in the annual Texas A&M Arturo Barrios Invitational.

The men will complete an 8K run starting at 8:30 a.m., followed by the women’s 6K at 9:15 a.m. at the Watts Cross Country Course.

McNeese is one of 40 men’s and women’s teams registered and joins host Texas A&M, Abilene Christian, Arizona State, Arkansas State, Baylor, Boise State, Central Arkansas, Charleston Southern, Colorado (women), Delaware (women), Eastern Michigan , on. Georgia Tech, Gonzaga, Houston, Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, Lamar, Louisiana, Mercer, Middle Tennessee State, New Mexico State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, North Dakota, North Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, Rice, Sam Houston, SMU (Women), Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Texarkana, Tarleton State, TCU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas State, Texas Tech, UT-Arlington, UTSA and Youngstown State.

Men’s teams ranked in their respective regions include: Incarnate Word (4thTh), TCU (5Th), Texas A&M (6Th), Houston (7Th), Stephen F. Austin (8Th), rice (9Th), Lamar (10Th), Arkansas State (11thTh), UT Arlington (12Th), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (13Th) and Sam Houston (14Th) in the south central region; Georgia Tech (10Th) and Middle Tennessee (13thTh) in the southern region; Texas Tech (10Th) and New Mexico State (15thTh) in the mountainous region; Oklahoma (12Th) in the Midwest region; Youngstown State (12thTh) and Eastern Michigan (13thTh) in the Great Lakes region; Charleston Southern (15Th) in the southeast region; and Gonzaga (6Th) and Boise State (8th).Th) in the western region.

After Friday’s meet, McNeese will compete in the SLC Championships on November 1 in New Orleans.
