What to do if restoring your power is uncertain?

What to do if restoring your power is uncertain?

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) – Homes and businesses on the barrier islands are still without power. FPL is working to restore power, but information from Charlotte County is prioritizing safety over power.

In some cases, FPL leaders may determine that certain electrical services cannot be safely restored. If this happens, please follow these steps:

1. Get examined: Have your electrical installation inspected by a licensed electrician, engineer or architect in the state of Florida to determine if repairs are necessary.

2. Obtain repair permits: If repairs are required, you must obtain a permit from Charlotte County Community Development.

3. Submit the required documents: If repairs are not required, the licensed professional must complete an Electrical Safety Inspection Form (www.tinyurl.com/yjz4bw3a) and submit it to the Community Development Department. This form is required for FPL to reconnect your power.
