Trump Attends Al Smith Dinner in New York; Harris demonstrates in Wisconsin after combative Fox interview: Live updates

Kamala Harris accuses Fox News of intentionally misrepresenting Trump

Donald Trump responded happily to his rival Kamala Harris’ tense interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier, in which the Democrat clashed with the host about illegal immigration, Joe Biden and the threat posed by Trump himself.

The Republican said on Truth Social that Harris was “barely capable of speaking on any topic other than me,” called her “totally incompetent” and praised Baier for her “great work.”

Trump himself struggled mightily in a town hall with Univision on Wednesday as he tried to appeal to Latino voters and failed when speaking on issues such as the Capitol insurrection, the coronavirus, gun control, climate change and his lie about Haitian migrants ate pets in Springfield, Ohio.

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, meanwhile, has reported that Trump is again trying to silence adult film star Stormy Daniels over her alleged 2006 affair with him and falsifying business records.

Harris is campaigning today in the crucial swing state of Wisconsin and is skipping the traditional Al Smith Catholic charity dinner in New York – Trump is attending.

Trump claims Haitian migrants eat other things ‘they shouldn’t eat’

Donald Trump refused to admit that he falsely accused Haitian immigrants of eating other people’s pets as he doubled down on his statements during a Univision town hall meeting with undecided Latino voters on Wednesday.

The former president was asked by a Spanish-speaking audience whether he actually believed what he said about migrants in Springfield, Ohio. Trump responded that he was “only saying what was reported.”

Rapper Common wants to campaign with Walz in North Carolina

Rapper and activist Common will join vice presidential candidate Tim Walz on the campaign trail in Winston-Salem, North Carolina later today.

“Together, Governor Walz and Common will speak directly to North Carolinians about the power of their vote and voice, and encourage voters across the state to go to the polls and cast their ballots before the November 5 election,” it said Campaign.

Trump turns to Fox News (again) and says that if he wins, it will be “DESpite Fox, not because of them!”

If you thought Donald Trump’s fawning over Bret Baier over his “tough but fair” interview with Kamala Harris would help mend the sometimes strained relationship between Fox News and the former president, then you’re apparently wrong.

Like on Sunday, hours after his hour-long interview with Maria Bartiromo Sunday morning futuresTrump is back at it again denigrating the Rupert Murdoch-owned network’s terrible habit of having guests who oppose him or fail to sing his praises…

This is how the former president expressed his displeasure on Truth Social a few moments ago:

Why does FoxNews’ Suzanne Scott keep relying on third-rate “talking heads” like Jessica Tarlov, Richard Fowler, Patrick Murphy, “something” Wolf, Keisha Lance Bottoms and other radical left-wing lunatics who lie and make up statements with Fox? Do you rarely mind when they tell stories? It’s such a bad idea to win the most important election in our country’s history. Likewise, not a moment goes by when I don’t look at the negative, false advertising that the other camp clutters the Fox airwaves with. If I win, and I hope so for the sake of the country, and that radical left-wing idiot, Kamala, doesn’t get a chance to run the country, it will be DESPITE Fox, not because of them!

Acting Secret Service Director Responds to Agency Report: ‘We’re Not Waiting to Act’

Acting Service Director Ronald Rowe has responded to the bipartisan independent review panel convened by President Joe Biden to examine the agency’s operations following the first assassination attempt on Donald Trump on July 13.

Rowe says the Secret Service respects the panel’s work and remains committed to correcting the errors that contributed to that day’s events in Butler, Pennsylvania, and is “not waiting to act.”

A statement from Rowe continued:

We have already significantly improved our preparedness as well as operational and organizational communication and implemented increased protective measures for the former president and other persons protected. This includes implementing changes to better integrate with our state and local law enforcement partners and improving our protections with support from the U.S. Department of Defense and other agencies.

Additionally, we are developing a comprehensive plan aimed at driving a fundamental transformation within the Intelligence Community to ensure we are appropriately configured to fulfill our dual integrated mission of protection and complex investigations. This plan focuses on increasing and retaining the agency’s workforce, modernizing our technology, and creating a training plan that is sustainable now and into the future. We acknowledge that July 13th did not take place due to a lack of resources. However, our expanded protection model implemented after July 13 requires additional people, equipment and resource capacity. The Agency is also working with Congress to increase the Agency’s budget so that we can make this paradigm shift a reality and ensure our people have the resources they need to successfully carry out the mission.

The U.S. Secret Service remains relentlessly focused on completing our critical mission. I am extremely proud of the dedicated workforce of the U.S. Secret Service. The men and women of the U.S. Secret Service are answering the call to protect our nation’s leaders and primary candidates as they operate in a heightened and increasingly dynamic threat environment.”
