In an important update, RAC1’s Marta Ramon reports that Barcelona’s new signing Wojciech Szczesny is now 100% fit and ready to play ahead of Sunday’s La Liga game against Sevilla.

Szczesny, 34, was signed by the Blaugrana as an emergency purchase after Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s knee injury at the end of the season.

The former Juventus and Arsenal star had retired but made a U-turn after being approached Blaugranawho agrees to sign a temporary contract until the end of the season.

Szczesny is ready for his debut

Since he had hung up his boots, Szczesny lacked playing strength and match fitness when he moved to Barcelona.

However, the 34-year-old former Poland international has worked hard in training in recent weeks to get back to the required level.

It is now believed that the goalkeeper is ready and at 100% performance level and would be able to make his Barcelona debut against Sevilla on Sunday evening.

The final decision about his commitment will therefore be made by coach Hansi Flick, who has to choose between Szczesny and Inaki Pena.

Since Ter Stegen’s injury, Pena has stepped up in goal but hasn’t quite been able to impress.

Reports earlier this month suggested that Flick would make the move and select Szczesny as his first choice in goal once he was fully fit. With that now being the case, there may be a chance that the Pole will make his debut on Sunday.
