Wyndham, partner to open 40 Microtels in India

LONDON – Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has signed an exclusive development agreement with regional third-party developer and operator Nile Hospitality to launch its economy brand Microtel by Wyndham in India. This is the eighth Wyndham brand to debut in this country. The partners expect to open 40 Microtel hosts by 2031, all of which will be direct franchisees of Wyndham.

Wyndham’s agreement with NILE will see the brand develop in key Tier II, III and IV cities in line with India’s infrastructure development cycle, with the first hotels opening in 2025. Each will have at least 50 keys and will feature meeting and social rooms, gyms and other facilities according to the needs of the area.

Wyndham currently has 60 hotels open across India and expects to grow at least 25% in the next 18 months.

“We continue to see incredible opportunities in India, which is why we are focusing our strategic efforts on introducing more of our diverse brands to the country,” said Dimitris Manikis, President EMEA, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “Microtel is an ideal example of a brand that can be built specifically for the market, and through continued collaboration with trusted partners like Nile Hospitality, we can scale quickly to meet growing demand.”
