“Austin City Limits” celebrates its 50th anniversary with notable appearances from some legends.

The birthday celebration will take place on October 17th at the Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin, Texas.

ACL TV broadcasts Willie Nelson, Asleep at the Wheel concert live

Willie Nelson & Family, along with Asleep at the Wheel, will headline the Austin City Limits 50th Anniversary Headlining Party on October 17 at the Long Center, celebrating the anniversary of the series’ pilot episode.

Nelson was the first artist to perform on “ACL,” and the show’s anniversary is approaching. The premiere took place on October 17, 1974.

Is attending the “ACL” Birthday Party Concert free?

Unless you registered last month. Registration for the chance to win tickets opened on Friday September 20th and closed on Monday September 23rd.

According to aclturns50.com, those selected were notified between Thursday, September 26th and Friday, September 27th. The number of tickets is limited and the principle is first come, first served. Only two tickets can be claimed. Tickets are not transferable.

Can you bring your own chairs to the “ACL” Birthday Party at Long Center?

This event takes place picnic style on the lawn. Chairs are not permitted.

While the performance is being recorded, the live stream is only available in real time. Musical highlights will be featured in a one-hour special of “Austin City Limits” on PBS early next year to celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary season, according to a press release from the TV show.
