Syracuse University suspends fraternity after “disgusting” videos posted online: Syracuse University has suspended the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity after several videos posted on social media allegedly showed students being mistreated at the organization’s house. “I am outraged by the actions shown in these videos and condemn this behavior,” said SU Chancellor Kent Syverud.

Onondaga County is funding $1 million for improvements to South Salina Street, part of the Aquarium Cow Trade: In 2002, state legislator Charles Garland’s “yes” vote allowed Onondaga County Administrator Ryan McMahon’s aquarium project to move forward with a 9-8 approval by the county legislature. On Wednesday, McMahon announced the fulfillment of a promise he made in return for Garland’s support. The county will pay just over $1 million for facade improvements along a 2.5-mile stretch of South Salina Street, the South Side’s long-suffering main commercial corridor.

The Syracuse football team is 5-1 but knows it hasn’t reached its potential: The Syracuse football team is 5-1, in second place in the ACC, and has won the kind of close games it has consistently lost in recent seasons. By most metrics, and certainly the important ones, Syracuse is having a successful season. Those watching, coaching and, most importantly, the players themselves are aware that there is still a long list of things that need to either be fixed or refined. “We’re nowhere near where we can be,” SU coach Fran Brown said.

C-NS basketball community gathers to support former player after tragic loss: Former Cicero-North Syracuse basketball captain Zerrie Brown broke into a sweat as he talked to coach Kyle Martin about how grateful he was that a friend’s mother bought him seven meals at Avicolli’s. The entire C-NS community has rallied around Brown over the past week as he grapples with a tragedy that no 18-year-old should ever have to face. His mother, Dawn Brown, died in a car accident at the Moyers Corners intersection on Sunday.
