NEW DELHI: The Indian team suffered an embarrassing collapse on Thursday as Rohit Sharma and Co posted their lowest-ever Test score on the second day of the rain-damaged Test against New Zealand at home in Bengaluru.
After the opening day was washed out due to rain, India surprisingly chose to bat first in cloudy weather.
The decision quickly backfired as India lost wickets at regular intervals after a watchful start. New Zealand thoroughly enjoyed the conditions as Indian batters died one by one, leaving fans in complete disbelief.
Five batters – Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin – were dismissed for ducks while openers Rohit and Yashasvi Jaiswal returned to the pavilion for 2 and 13 respectively.

Without title-11

Despite a humiliating performance, Rishabh Pant was the team’s top scorer, scoring 20 runs.
Shortly after India’s unreal collapse came disgraced batsmen Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara became top trends on social media.
The experienced duo have been on the sidelines for quite some time now as selectors have moved on from them and tried to give younger players more opportunities.
In keeping with the Rahane Pujara trend, fans and pundits were also extremely critical of the batters’ performance at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

At lunch, India were reeling at 34 for 6 and their slide continued after the break against a top-notch Kiwi pace attack.
R Ashwin was the first to go after the break, followed by Pant. The last two wickets for the Kiwis were Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav, who scored 1 and 2 respectively.
