Leaked data includes identity numbers, social security numbers, driver’s license numbers and residence locations.

Customers were not informed of the incident by DPS. KERA says they reached out to DPS for comment but have not yet heard back.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) was tricked into sending 3,000 replacement driver’s licenses to a Chinese criminal organization in December 2022. This organization specifically targeted Asian Texans. They created fake accounts on Texas.gov using stolen personal information.
