“Cynthia Erivo criticizes “offensive” fan edits of “Wicked” movie poster

Cynthia Erivo isn’t thrilled with the numerous fan-made versions of it Evil Movie poster.

“The original poster is an ILLUSTRATION,” she continued. “I am a real human being who has chosen to look directly into the camera for you, the viewer… because without words, we communicate with our eyes.”

The Oscar winner then shared the film’s poster and wrote: “Let me put this here to remind you and cleanse your taste buds 💚💚.”

The director of the film, Jon M. ChuHe supported Erivo through his social media and called her his “superhero”.

Ervio plays the main role Evil as Elphaba alongside Grande, who portrays Glinda. The cast also includes Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Bowen Yang, Peter Dinklage and more.

The film will be released in two parts, with part one hitting theaters on November 22nd. Erivo welcomed the decision to split production so that the story of “The Wicked Witch of the West” and “Glinda, the Good Witch” could be expanded.

“You really get to know it in this first film [Elphaba] As a young lady and what drives her to do what we get to know,” she said Entertainment tonight. “The story opens. You can really experience magic, and we can.”

Erivo announced that in the first part, audiences will see Elphaba and Glinda’s friendship blossom.

“You can follow these women a little more behind the scenes and learn more about them,” Erivo continued. “We developed their relationship as friends. This is a really important feature in the show, but this is where you can really get involved with them. We have something very special.”

Part one of Evil will hit theaters on November 22nd, while the second film will premiere a year later on November 25th, 2025.
