3 areas of attack for the Illinois football team against Michigan

The Illinois football program is set for one of the biggest games of the 2024 season.

The Illini have already gone through teams like Kansas, Penn State and Nebraska, but a ranked team from Michigan is coming to Champaign. This is a chance for Illinois to show our strength and ability to win big games when it matters most.

Illinois also has some great opportunities to exploit some of Michigan’s weaknesses. They don’t have many weaknesses on their team, but the Wolverines could struggle in some areas.

I think most people are used to Michigan having a good quarterback behind center. However, this isn’t the Wolverines’ usual roster.

Michigan doesn’t have the quarterback that can lead a team. This is one of their biggest weaknesses, and I think Illinois’ pass defense should be able to eat on Saturday.

In six games this season, Michigan has had a rotation of quarterbacks at the top. Davis Warren led the team in rushing in the first three games, Alex Orji took over the next two games, and Jack Tuttle was their best passer against Washington.

This season, all three quarterbacks have combined for 690 yards, six touchdowns and eight interceptions. These are numbers that will cause problems for a team. Illinois’ pass defense also had to play against some bad quarterbacks to get back on track.

Last week against Purdue, freshman Ryan Browne threw for 297 yards and three touchdowns. Illinois’ pass defense couldn’t stop him. Browne hit almost every receiver he threw to in the game.

I hope the Michigan contest is a good game for the Illinois secondary. We have too many solid defensive backs to give up on a big number again. The Wolverines don’t have a good passing attack and this is an opportunity for Illinois to not only shut them down through the air, but we can also get a few big turnovers to add momentum to the game.
