“Big Sean drops Gunna-assisted “It Is What It Is” video

Big Sean has released his Gunna-assisted video “It Is What It Is,” which also features the limited-edition J Dilla hats he just released in collaboration with the late producer’s estate.

Sean and Gunna take to the streets of Los Angeles in the Diego Cruz-directed version based on Sean’s new album. Better me than you.

Released on August 30th, the LP also features Cash Cobain, DJ Premier, Ellie Goulding, Syd, Teyana Taylor, The Alchemist, Thundercat and more.

Even though it just fell Better me than youBig Sean recently confirmed that he is currently working on a full-length collaboration with The Alchemist.

When asked how he deals with the challenges and stress of being a famous musician – which seemingly overwhelmed him in an emotional Instagram Live last month – Sean said: “I’ve been burnt out lately about my choices , taking on so much by doing multiple music projects. So by that I mean my album and then also the collaboration with Alchemist.”

He also revealed that he is working on some “ideas” for his and girlfriend Jhené Aiko’s Twenty88 duo, one of which may be added to Better than me, you alongside a few high-profile collaborations that didn’t make the cut.

“Conceptually, I chose this song that I did with KAYTRANADA called ‘My Life’ as the last song. “That kind of wraps up the album from a conceptual standpoint, and basically it’s more like the light at the end of the tunnel, and I wanted to end it that way,” he said.

“But after I already submitted it and released it, I thought I’d kind of like to take it a step further and maybe even add an alternate ending to the album like they do with movies and stuff.”

He added: “I checked [the album] as a living, breathing being because I decided to publish it this week. I wanted to keep holding on to it. I had a song with Nicki [Minaj] that I worked on. One of the Twenty88 songs I thought, ‘Oh, this fits better on the album somehow,’ but it wasn’t quite finished yet.”

Fans were given a glimpse of what a Big Sean and The Alchemist project might sound like Better me than youwith the pair teaming up for the bonus song “Together Forever.”

“Together Forever” was only their second collaboration, following “Palisades, CA” from The Alchemist’s collaborative album with Larry June. The Great Escape.
