MACON, Ga. (41NBC/WMGT) – Fox City Witch Ride For this purpose, is organizing the 3rd annual witch ride United in pink.

The event will take place Oct. 19 at The Den, 84 East Johnson St. in Forsyth. Registration begins at 4:45 p.m. and the ride begins at 5:30 p.m

Fox City Witches Ride co-organizer and breast cancer survivor Susan Harrell says the idea for the event came about when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Harrell said she first heard of a witch ride 17 years ago in Alabama. Harrell and her friend liked the idea, but it never came to fruition.

In August 2021, Harrell was diagnosed with breast cancer. Harrell’s friends decided to band together during this difficult time to bring her joy and friendship by going on their own witch trip.

Harrell was told to meet her friends in downtown Forsyth, and when she arrived she was greeted by the quiet ringing of bells and cackles from her friends. The women wore witch’s clothing, rode their bikes and fulfilled their dream of finally having a witch’s ride.

Other women in Forsyth heard about the witch trip and asked to participate in the next event. The inaugural event was held in 2022 and raised $6,000 to benefit United in Pink, the event raised $15,000 in 2023.

Adrienne Latham, family care assistant at United in Pink, says the proceeds will be used to improve the quality of life for the families they serve.

United in Pink offers programs and services to assist families and meet the needs of survivors, spouses and children. Support services are free and available to everyone, regardless of diagnosis or stage.

Participants in the 3rd Annual Witch Ride are encouraged to wear costumes, but are not required. The registration fee is $30.

There will be raffle prizes, the Bless Your Hat pop-up bar and live music from DJ Skeet.
