Police release video of a suspect in the murder of a northwest Austin teenager

Austin police released video earlier this month of a suspect involved in the killing of a teenager in a northwest Austin parking lot.

The new video shows the suspect circled in red at the scene of the shooting outside a hookah lounge in the North Brooke Plaza shopping center at 12636 Research Boulevard around 2:40 a.m. Oct. 1.

Witnesses told police the shooting stemmed from an argument between a group of people.

Nathan Ockleberry, 17, was shot and pronounced dead at the scene about 3:01 a.m. Two other male victims were also shot and injured in the incident.

The suspect fled the scene in a car. According to police, he was last seen wearing a white baseball cap and a dark hooded sweatshirt. Police describe him as a black or Hispanic man in his late 20s to early 30s.

This case is being investigated as Austin’s 49th homicide of 2024.
