Teen arrested on murder charges after fatal shooting Saturday in Adams County

A teenager was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of murder after a shooting Saturday left a 15-year-old boy dead and another teenager injured at an Adams County park.

The juvenile suspect — who was not identified by police due to his age — was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder, first-degree assault and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile, according to a news release from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

Adams County deputies responded to reports of shots fired at Rotella Park – near Welby at 1824 Coronado Parkway – around 11:18 p.m. Saturday.

When officers arrived at the park, they found 15-year-old Ricardo Alonzo Elgueta Fuentes had died of a gunshot wound to the neck and another teenager had been shot in the leg, sheriff’s officials said.
