NBA Birthdays: Players born on October 23rd

Jordan Crawford is one of the notable former NBA players born on October 23rd.

With over 5,000 players in NBA history, at least one player was born on every day of the calendar year – including three Leap Day players. Our daily breakdown of players born each day of the year continues.

Below are the most notable NBA players born on October 23rd:

Keith Van Horn (1975): Van Horn was the second overall pick in the 1997 NBA draft. While the Philadelphia 76ers drafted him, Van Horn was traded to the New Jersey Nets just two days after the draft. It was easy to understand why New Jersey pulled that trigger, as Van Horn finished second in the Rookie of the Year voting in his debut season. When Van Horn played for the Nets, he averaged 18.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 0.9 steals. However, he only played there for five years and ended his nine-year career playing for the Dallas Mavericks, Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks. He retired at 31 because Van Horn said his children were growing up quickly and he wanted to spend more time with them.

Jordan Crawford (1988): Crawford didn’t have a long career, but he was an eye-catching player every time he hit the floor. The guard was selected 27th overall in the 2010 NBA Draft by the New Jersey Nets but never played for them. He made his debut with the Atlanta Hawks in 2011 and made his biggest impression after being traded to the Washington Wizards midseason. Crawford averaged 16.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists in that stint and scored 14.7 points per game the following year. Crawford also spent time with the Golden State Warriors, Boston Celtics and New Orleans Pelicans during his career. Fans liked the advantage, however, as Crawford scored a career-high 41 points in 2014 and also recorded three triple-doubles during his career.
