Big Sean Shares Music Video for Gunna-assisted “It Is What It Is”

Big Sean has shared the official music video for “It Is What It Is” featuring Gunna from his critically acclaimed sixth studio album Better me than you (Def Jam recordings).

The Diego Cruz-directed video shows Sean and Gunna rapping in various settings around Los Angeles.

In the song, the rappers take turns presenting their best bars. Sean spits, “Completely different race, you know?/ My life is completely different, you know?”

Gunna adds, “If I jump off the P, I can play in Detroit like I’m playing against the Pistons.”

The album, released August 30th, features Cash Cobain, DJ Premier, Ellie Goulding, Gunna, Syd, Teyana Taylor, The Alchemist, Thundercat and many more. It is his first solo studio project since 2020 Detroit 2which has since been certified RIAA Platinum.

To celebrate the release, Big Sean also shared a music video for highlight track “Who You Are (Superstar).” The clip features Amine, Dylan Patel, Jazz Cartier, Mark Phillips and Taye Diggs.

On Friday, August 30, a conversation with Big Sean at the Grammy Museum brought the rapper to the Clive Davis Theater to talk about the new release, his creative process and more.

Big Sean has shared his debut album Finally famous on Kanye West’s GOOD Music/Def Jam label in 2011. Since then, he has won seven BET Awards and amassed 21 multi-platinum, platinum and gold-selling hit singles. Career highlights to date include “IDFWU,” “Bounce Back,” and the Grammy-nominated “Mercy” feat. Pusha T and 2 Chainz.

In addition to supporting his latest album, Big Sean is also in the process of releasing his first book: Go higherwhich is published by Simon and Schuster. His work outside of music also includes the Sean Anderson Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to the education, health, safety and well-being of school-aged youth in underserved communities across the country.
