Liam Gallagher explains why Oasis won’t play Glastonbury in 2025

Liam Gallagher has revealed why Oasis will not be performing at Glastonbury 2025 following the legendary band’s reunion.

The Britpop heroes first announced their long-awaited reunion in August, with a long string of gigs across the UK and Ireland. They stated that these would be their only shows in Europe and announced that they would not be playing any festivals next year.

Responding to fan speculation that Oasis could potentially headline the annual Worthy Farm music party, the Gallagher brothers responded to whispers about Glasto in a post on social media. “Despite media speculation, Oasis will not be performing at Glastonbury 2025 or any other festivals next year,” they said. “The only opportunity to see the band perform will be on their Oasis Live ’25 World Tour.”

Now Liam has taken to

Back in July, Liam’s brother Noel voiced his opinion on Glastonbury, sharing that the festival was “a bit woke” for his tastes.

“Don’t get me wrong, I love Glastonbury,” he said The sun after the festival ends.

“It’s getting a little woke now, this place, and a little bit preachy and a little bit virtue signaling,” he continued. “I don’t like it in music, little idiots waving flags and making political statements, and bands coming on stage and saying, ‘Hey guys, isn’t war terrible, yeah?’ Let’s all boo the war. Fuck the Tories man and all that.”

The rock veteran, who was spotted near the stage watching LCD Soundsystem with Dave Grohl at this year’s edition, added: “It’s like you just play your damn songs and get out.”

Isle of Wight Festival boss John Giddings also weighed in on Oasis taking on Glasto, saying the band would likely turn down an offer to headline the festival due to the low artist fees.

Giddings spoke at “Experience 25” – an exhibition celebrating the history of IOW Fest – explained (via The mirror) that both his own festival and Glastonbury “can’t afford” to have Oasis as a headliner anyway “because they want money”.

The festival boss said other acts would, however, perform at Glastonbury “for 10p”.

In other news, support acts for Oasis’ 2025 reunion tour of the UK and Ireland have reportedly been announced.

According to an “exclusive” report from The IndependentSupport for the UK and Ireland concerts will come from former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft and cast. The latter group recently opened for Liam’s 30th anniversary tour, Definitely Maybe.

Blossoms recently spoke to NME about the opportunity to support Oasis with them Live ’25 Appointments. It currently looks unlikely that Suede or Fontaines DC will be in the line-up after Liam beat both bands online.

In other news, Liam said he and Noel had no plans to do any interviews together in connection with the highly anticipated reunion. “We are afraid of the media asking us intrusive questions and trying to poke holes in our relationship,” he wrote.
