“Yng Lvcas and Peso Pluma’s “La Bebe” remix video hits 1B on YouTube

Yng Lvcas and Peso Pluma have a billion reasons to celebrate this week. The Mexican singers/rappers both secured their first ticket to the YouTube Billion Views Club this week when the clip for the remix of their hit 2023 collaboration, “La Bebe,” passed the 10-figure mark.

Lvcas released the original version of “Bebe” in 2021, although the popular song didn’t land on its debut Whoop? Mixtape 1 published this year. He recycled it as an outro for his reggaetón-heavy follow-up La Perreo Mixtape), which came out later in 2021.

When the remix was released in March 2023, it featured additional vocals from Pluma, whose relaxed vocals matched Lvcas’ equally relaxed flow. The colorful video for the remix features the two men in eye-catching designer clothing as they sing on a nearly empty stage lit by neon lights, while the song’s title floats behind them in silver and gold Mylar balloons.

Although they begin alone on the stage strewn with roses and red heart balloons, the scene soon switches to shots of the men coolly singing in front of an ostentatious mansion, accompanied by a quartet of lingerie-clad women shaking their hips in time. “She wants me to put some music on/So the baby can dance all the way down/We drank a few bottles/And yet she remembers we did it yesterday,” Lvcas sings in Spanish (translation courtesy of Genius).

LVcas then spends some time alone with one of the models in a bedroom as Pluma dances through various scenes in a black balaclava and down coat, accented by a Public Image Ltd. t-shirt.

The “La Bebe” remix debuted at number 77 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April 2023 and eventually climbed to number 11; It peaked at No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart and reached No. 1 on the Latin Rhythm Airplay chart in June of the same year.
