NBA 2K25 adds the futuristic, wild-looking Gravity Ball mode – but it will cost you

2K Sports has announced that NBA 2K25 is adding a wild-looking new mode, Gravity Ball, that will cost you extra. The mode launches Friday, October 18th and costs $8.

But what is Gravity Ball? The 3v3 and 5v5 modes are described as a fast-paced online multiplayer game playable via NBA 2K25’s The City. Taking place in a futuristic, low-gravity arena, Gravity Ball tasks players with racing across the map collecting balls to score points. Check out the announcement video below to get an idea of what the mode is about.

Gravity Ball was developed by Visual Concepts South, the team that developed the go-kart racing mini-game The Track for NBA 2K25. Gravity Ball started as a passion project before evolving into a real game, which 2K will now sell as part of NBA 2K25. In comparison, the track was free.

“I like to think of Gravity Ball as American Gladiators-meets-futuristic-basketball-meets-paintball,” says Greg Thomas, president of Visual Concepts said. “Pure crazy chaos. We had so much fun playing with each other that we knew we had to find a way to share it with you. Leveraging the NBA 2K25 platform has given us this opportunity.”

Thomas said the team is trying to give players something new and fun, noting that he was excited about the idea of giving the team a chance for their passion project to find an audience instead of being left “on the cutting room floor.” to become.

Gravity Ball will be available this Friday, October 18th for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, priced at $8. It will not be available for the PS4, Xbox One or Switch versions of the game.
