A Las Vegas man is suing the Riverside County sheriff for an “illegal” arrest outside Trump’s rally

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The man arrested outside a Trump rally in Coachella has filed a new lawsuit against the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.

In the lawsuit, Vem Miller – who spoke to FOX5 on Monday – accuses deputies of violating his civil rights through unlawful search, seizure and defamation. Attorney Sigal Chattah, who is also a member of the National Committee of the Republic, represents Miller.

Miller told FOX5 that as he approached the rally, he rolled down his window and told officers he had weapons in his vehicle. Officers then ordered him to stop and took him into custody.

“I probably had deputies who prevented the third assassination attempt,” Sheriff Bianco told reporters during a news conference. “I really believe we prevented another assassination attempt.”

Miller is now defending himself against these claims. “They said I made threatening statements about the president. Where is the bodycam footage? They turned me into some sort of elite Lee Harvey Oswald.”

Both the U.S. Secret Service and the FBI declined to interview Miller.

According to the complaint, Miller is Trump’s caucus captain and received “expedited special entry passes” during the campaign.

The lawsuit describes Miller’s arrest as “deliberate and unlawful conduct … designed to promote and participate in an unfounded and sensational story.”

Miller is seeking general and punitive damages and asking the county to fire a deputy involved in his arrest. At the time of writing, no hearing has been scheduled for the case.
