UPDATE: Car crashes into home, causing gas leak in South Brunswick

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ – A vehicle accident Wednesday morning caused a gas leak in a South Brunswick neighborhood, prompting a temporary evacuation of homes.

At about 9:13 a.m., police sent a message to Kory Drive residents asking them to evacuate their homes immediately due to a gas leak.

According to police, a car crashed into a home on Kory Drive, hitting the gas line and causing the leak. The house was right next to Brunswick Acres Elementary School.

PSE&G was on scene and turned off the gas to prevent further evacuations.

Several homes were initially evacuated due to the gas leak in the accident, police said. Brunswick Acres Elementary School is operating normally.

South Brunswick police and firefighters will be on scene within the next hour to investigate the accident.
