Apple iPhone SE 4 case leaks hint at major design and feature changes: Here’s what to expect

Apple recently launched the iPhone 16 series with several major upgrades. Now the focus is expected to shift to the next big thing – the iPhone SE 4. Leaks seem to have hinted at what the intended design of the budget-friendly iPhone model could be. New renders of the iPhone SE 4 were shared on X (formerly Twitter) by reliable tipster Sonny Dickson, leading to speculative designs and features. While the SE 4 isn’t a complete overhaul like its flagship counterparts, it is touted to bring minor design changes here and there with a whole host of features.

According to a leaked chassis render, the SE 4 could resemble an iPhone 7 Plus with a flat back and a notch that looks like a dual-camera setup. However, it remains unclear whether this will be dual cameras or a single camera with flash, as the budget SE range has never had dual cameras before. The disproportionate configuration signals a design change from the iPhone SE 3 without straying too far from Apple’s traditional aesthetic.

Contrary to previous rumors, the action and camera control buttons from the iPhone 16 series will not be carried over to the SE 4. The position of the volume and power buttons as well as the mute switch appear to be retained in their usual places. But probably the biggest change would be the loss of the physical home button in favor of Face ID, which would place the SE 4 firmly alongside mid- to high-end iPhone models.

As for internal upgrades, the iPhone SE 4 will run on a powerful Apple A18 chipset. Another significant change could be a 6.1-inch OLED display, this time the first-ever for the SE series, according to tipster AppleTrack. The device would also add a single 48MP rear camera.

The phone could launch in spring 2025 for $499 (around Rs 42,000). While the design isn’t a huge upgrade, the performance improvements and introduction of new features could earn this device major recognition among budget-conscious Apple fans.
