Celebrate First Generation Week by hosting activities and getting involved | E-News

First-Generation Initiatives invites the WVU community to help celebrate First Generation College Week, scheduled for November 4-8.

Colleges, departments, and units are encouraged to highlight their first-generation faculty, staff, and students on websites and social media and/or host an event for first-generation individuals and their allies.

Activities may include setting up a snack or treat station, setting up a photo booth with first-generation props, or hosting a small event.

First generation initiatives provide banners, buttons, and door cards for faculty/staff. First generation signs are also available to rent on a first come, first served basis.

Share all first generation activities, no matter how big or small, by Wednesday, October 30th.

Faculty or staff members who are first-generation college graduates are encouraged to identify themselves in Applause. Here are instructions on how to access Applaud.

Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate your journey, support the next generation of first-generation students, and connect with your fellow trailblazers.
