Richard Seymour’s participation in the Raiders was also approved

Tom Brady made headlines. But Richard Seymour also got a seat at the table.

Via Tashan Reed of TheAthletic.com, Seymour’s attempt to acquire a piece of the Raiders was also approved on Tuesday.

“I am deeply grateful – humbled and honored – Becoming an NFL ownerSeymour said on Twitter. “This is the mission of my life and I accept it with determination and pride. With great opportunities comes great responsibility. And I vow to be a worthy steward of our game – and everything that makes it possible.”

Unlike Brady, Seymour actually played for the Raiders and spent four seasons in Oakland after being traded there by the Patriots.

As reported over the weekend, Seymour’s offer had previously been tied to Brady’s offer before parting with it.

Seymour’s efforts to become minority owner of the Raiders received limited attention, especially compared to Brady’s more high-profile bid. Unlike Brady, Seymour does not have the list of restrictions that apply to Brady because Seymour does not work as a game analyst for an NFL broadcast partner.

Seymour was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2022.
