The coldest morning so far in autumn 2024, warmer weather is returning

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – Wednesday will be a tale of two halves. We start the morning with the coldest temperatures of the week. We’ll start off with mid to upper 20s temperatures this morning, the coldest we’ve experienced all week. If you factor in the wind chill, it will feel more like below 20 degrees outside. These will be the lowest temperatures experienced in the foreseeable future.

Today will be our coldest morning for at least the next week.(WSAW)

As the day progresses, the winds will shift from north to west and southwest. The shifting winds combined with MUCH clearer skies will allow most of us to get into the mid to upper 50s, about 10° warmer than Tuesday.

Skies will be mostly sunny for most of the rest of the week and winds will be lighter on Wednesday. Given recent rain and calmer winds on Wednesday, this will help keep the fire threat lower than recently. However, you still need to check that there are no burning bans. Waupaca, Waushara and Portage counties also require permits to burn debris. You can read more about this here. This will be important as winds pick up again on Thursday and Friday.

The fire danger will increase as we get warmer this week.

The chance of rain continues to decrease for Saturday; We are currently expecting a few possible showers during the morning. They would “most likely” be in the Northwoods. Even then, it’s not a guarantee.

Scattered showers remain possible early Saturday.

Above average temperatures will continue until at least the middle of next week. Once we get past Thursday morning, frost or freeze is unlikely outside of some communities in the far Northwoods.
