Virginia home explodes as firefighters respond to gas leak

According to the Prince William County Fire Department, a home in Haymarket, Virginia, exploded Tuesday evening while firefighters were on scene to respond to a gas leak.

WJLA’s SkyTrak7 was on scene. Check it out below:

Firefighters responded to the 5900 block of Colby Hunt Court for a reported gas leak around 4:17 p.m., officials said.

At around 5:36 p.m., firefighters told police that the house had exploded.

Firefighters evacuated the home before the explosion, officials said.

Initial reports indicate that an underground company damaged a natural gas pipeline, authorities said.

Officials said it is currently unclear what caused the explosion.

No injuries were reported. As of 6:50 p.m., officials said crews were still on scene putting out the fire.

The gas company was also on scene to contain the leak, officials said.

Officials said Piedmont Vista Drive was closed between Harwood Hill Way and Sorrell Hunt Road.
