Crime Stoppers tip leads to arrest of Texas’ most wanted fugitive

ALICE, Texas – A tip to Crime Stoppers led to the arrest of a wanted fugitive in South Texas.

On October 5, 38-year-old Luis Alberto Becerra was taken into custody by sheriff’s deputies following a traffic stop in Jim Wells County.

The Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division coordinated the stop with officers after receiving a tip with information about a vehicle Becerra was allegedly traveling in.

Becerra was sentenced to 10 years probation in 2014 after she was found guilty of assaulting a family member by respiratory/circulatory obstruction.

In 2020, his probation was revoked and he was subsequently sentenced to two years in prison.

He was also wanted since January 2024 for aggravated robbery out of Hidalgo County.

So far, Texas police and other agencies have arrested 37 people on the Texas 10 Most Wanted list, including 14 sex offenders, 10 gang members and four illegal immigrants.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward to the person who provided the tip.
