We’re back with another live recap as the Vancouver Canucks become the first team to visit the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena. As with the last game, we’ll post our thoughts as they happen and then summarize them in a recap when the game is over. Enjoy watching as the Lightning look set to take a 2-0 lead this season.

Morning Skate Lines:

Tampa Bay Lightning:

Some thoughts:

Coach Cooper confirmed the Bolts are 12/6 tonight and there’s a good chance Mikey Eyssimont makes his season debut. Coop didn’t confirm he’ll be there, and when asked directly, replied cheekily: “You’ll have to show up to find out!”

If this lineup holds for the game, Conor Sheary will make his season debut with Cam Atkinson as a healthy substitute. I wouldn’t mind if Chaffee traded places with Sheary to really get the third line going. Chaffee had a few strong moments in the first game.

There are a lot of games coming up in the next two weeks, so I expect Coach Cooper to continue rotating his defense. We have a feeling we’ll see Raddysh in Stamkos’ place on the power play. If you have a player who can fire a puck at over 100 miles per hour, it’s a good idea to place him in this spot.

Vancouver Canucks:

That was from training on Monday. No update on anything more concrete than Arturs Silovs will give the starting signal online. Tyler Myers is a game-time decision on defense and it looks like young forward Arshdeep Bains will make a move to the top alongside Brock Boeser and his old friend JT Miller.

Notes from Lightning

  • The Lightning are 20-18-5 overall against Vancouver and 12-8-2 at home.
  • Which Lightning player has the most points in a single game against the Canucks? Well, there are two – Brayden Point recorded 1 goal and 3 assists against them in January 2020. This corresponds to the 2 goals and 2 assists of Stephane Richer (The Undertaker!) on March 18, 1998.
  • Zemgus Girgensons has 99 assists in his career. Get this man on the ice with an empty net!
  • Vasilevskiy’s 300-win clock is at 294.
  • Anthony Cirelli’s 100-goal list stands at 97. Tony Three goals tonight?
